I saw G’s post of this link:
An article about how in the movies, “loosing” virginity is an adventure for boys, and an minefield for girls. I’ll leave my quibbles with syntax etc out of it, but it did leave me trying to think of examples that do not follow this model. The first one I can think of that maybe hints at something a little bit different is Mama Mia. Not the mother’s story, because that could be seen to play slightly into the given model, but the daughter’s decision at the end of the movie not to get married, but to go out and travel with her fiance says that a woman her age has the power to be independent and enjoy a relationship without a marriage commitment.

Now I’m on the lookout for other examples. If you can think of one, let me know.
